What’s your golf fix?
OK, so I’ve only been playing golf for about two years now but it’s definitely something that has significantly garnered my attention (probably because it absolutely frustrates me to play a sport that I am not immediately good at but want to). Though I hate to admit it, the computer geek in me is really surprised how much technology has played a part in the sport and my interest in it. From hitting balls in the golf pods at my local PGA Tour Superstore (before it closed last December), to CBS’s swing vision and ball flight tracker while watching golf on TV, and to the awesome quality of the live webcast on masters.com this year, it’s kind of amazing how far golf has gone from the view that it’s just an old rich white man’s sport. Adding to this commentary of the change in the game was an interesting article in this weekend’s wall street journal. It was about the white belt making it’s comeback onto the golf course, brought on by some of the more youthful (and european) fashion forward players . (Apparently, if you wear both the white belt and white shoes, it’s called a “full cleveland” and if you wear just the one of the items, a “half cleveland”. Who knew?) Anyways, the most interesting thing that I got from reading it was a new golf blog source. So I thought I would share it and some other golf sites that I follow that are a little off the path from your traditional golf sources.
Blogger, Stephanie Wei, is a former Yale golfer, living in NYC, commenting on her love of the game from the interesting viewpoint of a young hip city girl.
I like their golf galleries like their Golf in Showbiz one and who can go wrong with a section dedicated solely to Tiger Woods?
Magazine based in the UK that has interesting interviews with today’s top golfers and I personally like their golf junk section.
